RNDFA Eduardo Avaroa is a the southernmost west corner of Bolivia, nestled between Chile and Argentina. It is amazing: not surprisingly, here they called the desert the Desert of Dalì. It is like strolling into the brainstorm of the most eclectic artist, in the middle of his most visionary moment.
Roads are leading to nothing else than something beyond the edges, while an ecstatic scenario of thousands of colors, shapes, templates where glossy and matte are mixed together by dusty roads, deep blue sky, rainbow volcanoes, boron whirlpools over heavenly-pink lagoons, lying over golden grassland and silver rocky grounds. Then, look up, the flamingos are sailing the sky.
You will find yourself heading to the sky, actually altitude is amazing, and, while you challenge with the wind, you can experiment the feeling to be nowhere else than in the place you want to be stuck in that moment. Ahead, say Bolivia at loud voice, this is the Altiplano.
Highlights of the RNDFA Eduardo Avaroa are commencing since your entrance at the south border with Chile (Portuezelo del Cajon). Licancabur (which can be climbed up to the summit) and Juriques towering over Laguna Blanca & Laguna Verde, Dalì Desert, Cerro Nelly, Salar de Chalviri, the hotsprings and geyserfield of Sol de Manana and finally the super-star Laguna Colorada, with its colonies of flamingos...and how to forget the coca leaves and the “mate de coca”, as drink to pair the lunch at the worn hostal nearby the lagoon.
